<span class="really_big bold">Pastoral Staff</span><br><table><tr><td valign="top"><a href="#" onClick="window.open('AlbumPopUp.php?pic=staff/1.jpg&caption=', '','height=205,width=182');" onMouseover="document.getElementById('div1').innerHTML='Looking back on my life, my marriage, and my ministry it is easy to see the hand of God’s grace in my life.<br><br>Although I was raised by a Christian mother, I had little Christian education, or training, as a child, my dad being a non-believer, and my family seldom being in church.<br><br>After a rather tumultuous life, I met the Lord Jesus at the age of thirty. As I walked with the Lord as a single Christian, He brought my beautiful wife, Jeri, into my life. Shortly after our marriage, the Lord called us to leave California, and my career as photographer for the Los Angeles Times. Two years later, we were called to the ministry. Now, after 26 years of marriage, and 24 years in ministry we rejoice in the privilege of continuing to serve here at Calvary Chapel of Phelan. It is our joy to serve our Lord.<br><br>As we begin our 17th year here, we look forward to the great things God has in store for this church, and this community. He has done great things already! Many have come to know Jesus as their Savior, (including my dad) and many more have grown in His grace, and the knowledge of His Word. My wife, Danielle, and I began attending church regularly from the moment we were saved. The Lord called us back to California when my tour in the military ended in the fall of 1980.<br><br>In 1981, I began teaching a weekly Home Fellowship and was part of the counseling ministry for Colonial Bible Church in Tustin, CA. In 1986 we moved our family to Phelan and began attending what is now Calvary Chapel of Phelan. I began teaching a Home Fellowship after a few months of attending this church. I was ordained as the Youth Pastor in July of 1989. I truly enjoyed working with the teenagers and teaching them the Word of God. I worked as a Youth Pastor until January 1993 when I was brought on staff full time as the Assistant Pastor/Administrator.<br><br>In 1991, the Lord called me to be a Chaplain for the San Bernardino County Sheriff Department. I began this ministry as a Citizen Volunteer Chaplain. I completed the Reserve Peace Officer Academy in October 1994 and was sworn in as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff. I now serve as a Chaplain on a peer level with the Deputies in our department. The Lord has opened many doors through Chaplaincy for ministry to those in the Law Enforcement community.<br><br>I am credentialed as a Master Chaplain with the International Conference of Police Chaplains. Also, I have served as the Regional Director for this organizations Southwest Region. I have an advanced certification for Critical Incident Stress Management with the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation. Also, I am currently on the Board of Directors for <a href="http://www.pofci.org">Peace Officers for Christ International</a>.<br>My wife, Danielle, and I have three grown children, Terra, Gary Jr., and Jacquie. I came to know Jesus Christ as my Savior on November 22, 1979. I began a new relationship with Jesus and, faithfully, attended Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa. The Lord then blessed me with my wife Blanca, and from 1980 thru 1987 we grew in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ at Calvary Chapel of Downey. In 1987, the Lord prompted us to move our family to the high desert town of Phelan and, since, we have been serving at Calvary Chapel of Phelan.<br><br>I started serving at Calvary Chapel of Phelan by teaching home fellowships, teaching in the prison fellowship and, then, by leading our For Men Only ministry. In 1998, I was asked to pray about overseeing the Youth Ministry and after much prayer and confirmation I began teaching the youth.<br><br>In July of 1999, I was blessed to become a part of the full time pastoral staff as well as leading the Youth Ministry. I have been given many opportunities to reach out to the youth in the church and the community. The Lord has opened the door for me to go onto our local high school campus to share the gospel as well as assist with various counseling needs. The Lord has blessed our youth ministry P.Y.R.O. (Prayerful Youth Reaching Out) as the student’s minister to high school youth at home and abroad on the mission field. God has used this team to bring students to the saving grace of Jesus Christ. Our family attended the Methodist church when I was young, but I came to know Jesus as my personal Lord and Savior in December of 1984, at a small church here in Phelan. I soon was attending Calvary Chapel of the High Desert, where I grew to know and love the Calvary-style Bible teaching and worship. My wife, Patty was saved in December of 1985.<br>After trying to find a permanent church-home in my own community for some time, we ended up here at Calvary Chapel of Phelan in 1993.<br><br>I headed up our prison outreach for nearly five years before taking over as worship leader in1998. I was a semi-professional musician playing nightclubs before I was saved, and have always had a deep love for music. My "first love" in ministry had always been teaching God's word, but the Lord has given me an ever-growing love and passion for creating and playing music that glorifies Him.<br>It is a blessing to serve and grow with the body of Christ here, and to have such a great group of gifted fellow servants to minister along side of.<br><br>Jesus Christ saved and delivered me out of a very sinful and self-destructive life in the world, and I will sing His praises for evermore! I enrolled at Calvary Chapel Bible College in 1980, this is where I met my wife, Mary. We both graduated from the Bible College in 1981.<br><br>We served together through YWAM on the motor vessel Anastasis. While on this ship we served in New Zealand and Guatamala.<br><br>We then spent several years serving the Indians of Mexico, by recording and distributing evangelistic materials in their native languages. This included Gospel Recording's cassettes and dubbing the Jesus Film into the Indian languages.<br><br>I am presently serving with Calvary Chapel of Phelan and continuing the ministry of dubbing Christian films into foreign languages as the Lord leads and directs.<br><br>I oversee the Missions Fellowship for Calvary Chapel of Phelan which meets monthly to promote and understand the Great Commission's call to serve or send. Little did anyone know how much the Lord would use one of the “neighborhood guys” to lead others to Jesus!<br><br>While walking with the Lord toward my future, He blessed me with my husband Craig and we relocated and fellowshipped under Pastor Greg Laurie at Harvest Christian Fellowship. During this time we were blessed with our two children and in 1986, felt the Lord calling us to again relocate to the beautiful foothills of Phelan.<br><br>In 1986, our family began attending what is now Calvary Chapel of Phelan and my husband and I began to serve here by overseeing the Children’s Ministries. During this time, I assisted with various office duties.
