Words to the Wise

…my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord. 1 Corinthians 15:58
Hoover Dam, which supplies power to a great deal of the southwest, is a monument to engineering. There are many larger dams in the world today, but it was the largest dam in the world at completion in 1936; and it has enough concrete in it to pave a two lane highway from the Atlantic to the Pacific oceans.
It is immovable! Created to withstand the pressure of the mammoth Lake Mead behind her, Hoover Dam is a picture of who we are to be in the Lord. “Steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord.”
That is God’s desire for us; not wishy-washy, not chasing after things that please the eyes, not swaying back and forth, but solid, standing on the solid rock, Jesus Christ!
As we yield our lives to Him, God has given us the power to stand in Christ Jesus, filled with His Holy Spirit, walking in the power of His right arm. “…grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel…” (Colossians 1:23)
Praise the Lord! He is faithful to carry us through, if we simply trust in Him, rest in Him, and let Him be truly Lord and Master of our lives!
Resting in the love of Jesus, Pastor Larry
